Hi there guys,
Is anybody interested in organising a diy meet in Toronto. We could have all the diy'ers models displayed and listen to them. It's like some people have the meet in the USA. Or is there a diy meet already existing in Toronto that I am not aware of. May be some tim hortons too to chill out. Feedbacks would be appreciated. Thanx, Tony. |

Some of us locals tried to organize something a few years ago, but there wasn't enough interest. I'd still like to do this one day, I think there are several speaker builders in the area. I'd possibly bring my system, but it's getting very complicated, a 3 way active digital dipole speaker, so many boxes to bring
I have some contacts at Solen, maybe we could get some prizes or something from them. Maybe even a guest lecture from one of the large local manufacturers? I know some people in the industry. Lets get more people involved in this. Ron |

I will be in, but like Ron too many boxes to bring and if I do I would have to make many many trips baclk and forth especially those dipole subs are 24"x48"x24 each! GC, JLH Amps are ok though

I'd certainly go if this happened... I wouldnt have too too much... some ACI Opal/Spirits, CSS ELF 1.0s, the new CSS WR 4.5"ers, modded Radioshack LS550s, and *maybe* an Adire Rava sub. All easy to transport and some of it not that common.

Excellent idea.
If its difficult to get a good turnout, just keep it low key. Id rather see five people meet up without the prizes and fanfare then have the whole thing canned because not enough people are interested. |

I'm in. I'd like to hear some stuff, meet some new people and learn more about DIY. I cant bring most of my newbie DIY stuff (too big or screwed down). I guess I could bring my Sansui AU999 if anyone wanted to hear some vintage SS or my remade Paradigm Monitor 3s. If I get my Adire Extremis6s in time I could bring those though.
If Transducer could get an industry insider that would be awesome. Graham |

I'd say we should hold off on finding a location until we have an idea of how large an event we will have. If it's only 5 people, maybe someones house, but if larger, we might need to rent a location, or try to find something for free. Our local library has a huge performance space in the basement, but it's very live acoustically, and a much bigger room than anyone would have in their house.
Just my 2 cents

I think this is a great idea. I am located very near Shellburne (20 mins N. of Orangeville, 1-1/4 H. NW of TO). I have a commercial building and plan to have a listening/demo studio setup at some point to show off my wares. I am getting into manufacturing hi-end speakers and tube amps. When the large room is ready I would be happy to host a group meeting. In the meantime if it is two or three from the area I'd be happy to volunteer my home. I have my best stuff set up in my home and travelling with it is not an option.
PM if interested in a get together!
