Hi Guys, is there anyone out there who can translate these couple of sentences for the Forsman site? I'm trying to understand exactly what he's claiming for his dipole loudspeaker. (I asked my Danish neighbour, but she's definitely not a technical person...)

' VSS (Vertical Split System) systemet gjengir pulser med dobbelt så stor nøyaktighet, rent reguleringsteknisk'

and ' Dobbelt så nøyaktig pulsgjengivelse (kun 90 grader fasefeil) '

any help appreciated,
Pete McK

I'm Danish, but I give a try:

' VSS (Vertical Split System) systemet gjengir pulser med dobbelt så stor nøyaktighet, rent reguleringsteknisk'

"System reproduces pulses with doubble the accuracy, technaly in the regulator."

' Dobbelt så nøyaktig pulsgjengivelse (kun 90 grader fasefeil) '

"Doubble as acurate pulse reproduction (only 90 deg. phase error)

I understand all the words but I'm not shure what it means though. Norwegian language is spelled 90% as Danish, so I think it's pretty good.

I expect this has to do with the 1st order roll-off of a dipole below its baffle width related roll-off and above the resonance of the driver (below which it will fall off faster).

This means that the speaker will have lower group delay. Unless the dipole is huge, it will still need bass augmentation, which being in a normal box will have larger group delay.

Hello planet10

I was at you website.
See you have a liking for TL-speakers, Transmission Line.

Can you, in brief tells us about that way to build speakers.
What is your 3 main reasons for make TL?

Start a new Thread, it certainly is missing
in loudspeakers Forum.
Thanks for the links at you homepage.
A nice little selection!

I am Norwegian:)

The Danish guy has got it pretty correct, accept one part:

VSS (Vertical Split System) systemet gjengir pulser med dobbelt så stor nøyaktighet, rent reguleringsteknisk'

THis means sopmething like:

In "regulatingtechnical" terms, the VSS system deliver pulses with twice the accuracy as a normal system.

You get the meaning:)

"regulatingtechnical" is a made up Norwegian word, just ********:)
It Can most likely be translated as in technical terms.

Cheers,
Anders

Hi mate!

First off I'm Danish but speak (and read) both norwegian and swedish, so I might able you out here. You see, the problem is that you cannot translate these sentences directly into english.

Instead you first have to understand the meaning of them and then construct a new sentence, so with further delay, here is the right translation:

' VSS (Vertical Split System) systemet gjengir pulser med dobbelt så stor nøyaktighet, rent reguleringsteknisk'

'The Vertical Split System (VSS) reproduces pulses with twice the accuracy filterwise.'

'Dobbelt så nøyaktig pulsgjengivelse (kun 90 grader fasefeil)'

'Twice the pulse reproducing accucary (just 90 degrees out of fase)
