Building Active Speakers
Hello all I am new to the forum and I hope I am posting in the right forum.......I have found an mint pair of Optimus Mach 6000 speakers (Radio Shack) cabinets I had bought 20 years ago......and had stored away in the basement, years ago....the dimensions are 40"x171/2"x111/2", the construction is 3/8 board......I know "how do you forget about something that big"......but I did....they were under blankets in the storage area.
When I m not sailing in the summer I rock with the boys in the garage....theirs or mine. So I just purchased a state of the art Boss gt6 effects processor and have been using it thru my Marshall stack amplifier......I had been reading thru one of the Boss forums when I came across a thread on the use of this processor and active speakers.....and then the lights went on...hey wheres my old stereo speakers?
For those of you who are not familiar with the Boss GT6.....it is an effects processor complete with all the modulations and effects one could use in when playing. As well it has over 30 built in preamps and overdrives emulating the most popular amps being used today.
SSSSSSSSOOOOOO.......my question to you learned gentleman is what would be required to turn the beast speaker cabs of mine into active speakers that I could use this efx processor and play my guitars thru .....I should tell you at this time the speaker compliment per cabinet is as follows 1-15",3-5",&1-4". I have tried searching the net to find what the rating is on these cabs with no luck. They say the memorys the first thing to go.
Any advice and guidance would be appreciated by this neophyte.
Thanx
Rick
