Im planning on using the Dayton 7" Rs series speakers along with the Seas 27TDFC tweeter. My crossover plan was a 2nd order LR crossover on the woofer at 2200hz with a notch filter to take care of the resonance problems up high, then run the 27TDFC from 2200hz up, 2nd order also. I need to know how far from each other the drivers need to be spaced, if i should use BSC, and also what size box to use. I want to go ported floorstander. Final imp. should be around 5 ohms, and the effciency around 90db/1w right?

Things to check out:
http://www.partsexpress.com/projects...mtm/index.html And a tweeter for you to consider: Seas 27TBFCG Read about the test results of this tweeter and others at: http://www.zaphaudio.com/tweetermishmash/ I want to do the same thing, really just with a slightly different tweeter. I'll try to answer some questions as best I can. Box size: I'm going for 1.2 ft^3 boxes tuned to 35Hz or so. She's not gonna be big enough to be a floorstander, but I'm building subs that'll double as stands. I chose this size to get what I feel is the best combination of LF exstention, group delay and port loading to control cone excursion. Crossover: I'm going to try for a lower X/O point, but I'm not sure how low yet. In fact, I have a TON of questions on I should do about X/Os. I'm pretty sure you're on the right track with the notch filter and yes, you'll probably need some form of BSC. |

Drivers should be placed as close to each other as possible. For BSC, you should first build the box, and then measure, to find out the optimal specs (same for crossover of cource).
Filteren lower than 2.2 Khz might be a good thing if the tweeter can handle it. You could also consider a 3-rd order crossover. This should result in a better dispersion pattern (like D'Appolito does). |

You don't indicate any interest in an MTM. However, before you finalize your design, there is LOTS to learn from Jon Marsh. His "Modula" MTM:
