I have a pair of vintage Sansui 2"x6" horns that I would like to use to cover tweeter duty on my OB line arrays, but I need some pro advice.
There is a plastic enclosure around the motor structure, and when removed reveals the back side of the magnet and diaphragm. I was wondering if this acts like small enclosure and needs to be on the horn, or can I take it off so the horn can be true OB and not just a sealed enclosure mounted on a board? TIA, MEXXX |

The rear chamber on a compression driver is part of the overall horn system. It is necessary in order to keep equal pressures on each side of the diaphragm. This reduces non linear distortions.
