Default Fountek jp 2 ribbons... 1.5khz?

Anyone think that a 1.5khz 10th order highpass would be sufficient for the Fountek jp 2.0 ribbons?

The manufacturer recommended xover point seems to be 2khz 4th order.

I was considering cascading a 2nd order l-r passive filter with an 8th order l-r from the behringer dcx2496.

Thoughts or suggestions?

You might ask Magnetar over on the High Efficiency Speaker
Asylum. He has some experience using the Esg1 ribbon that
lower than recomended. This driver has a 1.5k/3rd order rating
but he is using it down to 1k.

Default Ribbon Crossover

np,
Most ribbons, or tweeters in general, sound bad crossed low.
If you look at the distortion plots, the ribbons gets pretty nasty near to, and extending an octave above, resonance. Plus, power handling must be reduced if you wish to keep it from failing.

Magnetar was using very low power, and ended up near 2 K Hz, IIRC with the ESG.

I would look at other mids (if yours won't do it) to pair up with the ribbon and move the xo higher.
