Baffle Step + Sub

Should my (mains) loudspeakers have the baffle step removed from the xover when I integrate my sub?

The sub and mains are both actively xovered at 80Hz 24db/oct.

Would the integration of the speakers be easier if the step filter were removed.

Has any one tried this.

Unless your baffles are a couple of meters wide, baffle step compensation will effect frequencies much higher than 80 Hz. So no, don't remove it.

Keep bafflestep as it will never be low enough unless you have extremely wide speakers and a high crossover point.

Or if you use the speakers very close to the backwall (good forbid), then you would do best with very little or no BSC.

My baffle is 9" Wide and 44" high. It houses two 8" drivers and one 1" tweeter.

How do I calculate my 3dB point for the step filter?

Doesn't a baffle step correction circuit technically cause more loss and not actually gain by making the whole frequency range down 3db? Wouldn't using an EQ to raise the lower end instead of attenuating the top end be a better way to do things?
