I am liking what I'm hearing/reading about this driver and was thinking of buying a nice amount of them and building some speakers out of them. Maybe start with 1-2 drivers in a small bookshelf for my computer and move on from there. If I'm not mistaken, I'd be better off pairing these with a mid-woofer to help with the transition from the sub to the Tang, right? Maybe a woofer that will take care of 80-200hz or so, where the Tang is weak. This will allow the sub to not be localized as easily. I plan on making larger bookshelfs, possibly floorstanders, with this driver and would like to use the same mid-bass driver in them as well. Any suggestions?
Maybe something like this Tang that's on special for $15/each: http://www.acoustic-technologies.ca/...wa0640a6-w.jpg Or if you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears. The Tang W3-871S is 87db sensitive so I'd rather not need to have a lot of mid-bass drivers to even out the sensitivity issue. I'm thinking of using 2-4 of the Tangs per speaker when I build larger ones, possibly even 6. Thanks for any help! |

Whats up with your hp? I´m mating the TB W3-871S with a Gradient W160AL8-ML-TL at the moment and I believe once I get the crossover right results will be marvellous. (XO-newbie) Cross the TB with 6dB (47uF) at the moment but I reckon it should be steeper to let it play more relaxed. Another not that "fruity" discussion: Woofer (not sub) to go with the W3-871S

Whatever you get, you want it to be quite extended on the top... i'm using a pr of vintage Coral 8" woofers per enclosure with mine (same baskets as the 8" FR you got from me Tim)

I think JoeBob put long effort into picking a good match, although this is specifically an open baffle design:
