the organist for our church has AR2ax -- the same speakers I had when in grad school over 30 years ago -- I recall mods for the AR3's in Speaker Builder about 15 years ago -- any suggestions for their little brother?
I just replaced the cartridge in her vintage Onyko turntable with a new Ortofon -- it sounded great when I played it on my Linn System -- but when I got the thing over to the organists house it had lost the impact. I am thinking of new tweeters and a new XO. |

That would be a reasonable approach. The AR's had a rather laid back sound, which was fairly typical of that time. If this is used in a large room, a horn tweeter would be a benifit. The Selenium DT150 is inexpensive, and has good performance. Also, the supertweeters, like the ST304, would be great in a large room. Modify the crossover to properly utilize the new tweeters. How is the woofer? Does it have a foam surround? If so its probably shot. It may need replacement as well. Do you know what the displacement of the enclosure is?
Good luck https://secure11.websitecomplete.com....asp?prod=1036 |
