Default another noobie - owI / W18EX-001 help

Hey all
I only been researching for a few days so please excuse my ignorance!
i was looking at the 1801 ellis speakers but to be honest id prefer something a bit smaller and im not keen on speakers with a large area below the drivers
So i was thinking about building something based around the W18EX-001 instead of the W18E-001 as according to the website it will be happier in a smaller box

i tried to look at the curves for both speakers to see if they were similar but acrobat will only run one instance and only show one file at once so i havent been able to compare them closely

can i expect a similar sound to the E when using the EX in a smaller box?

is this a combination you'd reccomend?
this is a long term project and at the moment i know nothing about crossovers which i realise is probably more important then driver selection but im more than willing to learn in the next month or so

Sorry if you have to answer stuff like this everyday
Thanks
Wayne Smith

did you get any further on this?

I just read in the LDSG site that the w18ex requires some complicated filters and requires a fair bit of expertise to use properly.

Dennis murphy's MBOW uses the same tweeter with a different woofer. It looks about the size your looking for and seems to be popular.

I have no experience with either though.

I have no opinion, just thought you might want to take a look.
