Exclamation Speaker for a small home W-Bin

hi,
i'm going to build some bass bins and i've already been looking
for different encloserures for a few weeks.
yesterday i found that one:

http://www.speakerstore.nl/index.php...20&sel_lang=nl

a w-bin enclosure for a 12 incher.
as far as i could understand the text it says all 12' speakers
with a low fs and qts are recommended (of course -> horn)
imho the peerless xls12 seems to be an interesting one:
fs=18hz
qts=0.2
but:
normally the speaker is only recommended for a closed or a br system
(volume about 35-45l, just like the bin in the drawing!!)
so i don't know if that would fit together ??
regards thomas

This design is suited to professional use as a narrow bandwidth midbass. The pathway is less than 3 feet, which means that it can only effectively horn load to perhaps 100 Hz; below that it operates in direct radiator mode, if at all, depending on how it's tuned. The folding geometry would limit the useable high frequencies to 800 Hz at best. It is much larger physically and with at least an octave less midrange bandwith than state ot the art designs. Its Fc is at least an octave too high for pro-sound subwoofer use.

The driver as you mention would work quite badly in this enclosure; the Qts is OK but I'd estimate an Fs of no less than 60 Hz would be required for this box to work as well as possible.

For home use I can see no reason for this box at all.

If in fact the site does recommend low Fs (less than 40 Hz) drivers ( I don't read German) for this design I would seriously question the engineering quaifications of the party responsible for that statement. It would be a complete and total mismatch.

Hi.

That cabinet is a copy of the Electrovoice Eliminator.

The recomended speaker characteristics for this box is as follows.

Low QTS
High fs
High BL Factor

Also, one thing to consider is the no. While the
Peerless could work, its only 0.379% The average
driver used in this horn was 5.5 %

Will it work? Yes.

Will it sound good? I doubt it.
