Default Since Focal has stopped selling drivers to DIYers...

Hello, I'm new here, first post

How do Focal car drivers compare to their range of now discontinued DIY high-end speakers?

Basically, are car drivers designed to sound different, i.e better in a car? is there something with different impedance characteristics?

I want to upgrade a 20 year old ghettoblaster with better drivers and a new amplifier.

Thanks

Focal only stopped selling to individuals. You can still buy them from their distributors which is probably where you would have gotten them from anyway. In the US contact Andre at e-speakers.com (not sure where you are located but contact your nearest dealer and check).

Yep. I recently received a pair of 7k44 from Diyparadiso. No problem.

Yes but I thought it was just focal drivers in their stock, and when the stock runs out, they wont be available

Yes exactly.

I got the last TC90 TD5 driver from parts express :/
I ordered 4, they sent 1 with 3 on backorder. but eventually fessed up saying they were out and said part# was discontiuned from the manufacturer.
I got the remaining 3 from speakercity
