Default Tweeter measurements

Hello All,

I would like to measure the acoustic frequency response of my tweeter with MLS signals generated by Speaker Workshop. Should I protect the tweeter from low frequency signals using a passive crossover? If so, then should I choose a low frequency cutoff (say 500 Hz) so not too affect the passband response? Will this be enough to protect the tweeter? I want to measure a Dynaudio D28.

Thanks in advance,

Michel

just dont push it above 93dB spl @ 1m. Avoid filters. If your system is not spl calibrated, use an spl meter.

In general I usually use a cap sized so that cutoff is ~2 octaves below where I intend to actually cross the tweeter. I am still measuring the filter but it's contribution is small in the area of interest.

In general, I think you have to be careful. When I was tested the AC G2, the strong Fs resonance completely dominated the pulse response (rings like a bell)...with a suitable HP filter, the results were more usable.
