Default Good mids for car (8 ohms ok)

I am looking for a good 6-8" mid that will run IB in my car door. 3-1/4" mounting depth max. Something in the $50-70 range, I'm not sure yet what to get. I want it to sound detailed (I like paper cones) and 'flat' sounding. I guess I'm looking for a Dynaudio type of sound without the Dynaudio price.

I have Vifa tweeters D25AC-07-06 that I got from Ebay. Also A/D/S/ crossovers from a car audio component set (don't know crossover frequency, probably 3-4khz)

4 or 8 ohms is fine so home drivers are ok. They will get aprox. 150 watts.

A couple options I have so far, Vifa PL, Peerless HDS.

I want to use a diy driver like these but it's hard to find reviews on them and there's nowhere to hear them.

Probably would place my bet on the HDS series.

Keep in mind that the Peerless HDS mids have a very exposed voice coil, and I wouldn't recommend them for car door use on that basis alone.

You'll also need a nitch filter to take care of the spike around 1-1.5k thats' prevailant in nearly every door mounted mid.

I recommend the Silverflutes at the very bottom of the page- 4 or 8 ohm.

I would recommend the Morel MW164. You can get them in 4ohm as well, if needed, from Madisound. They have a 3" Hexatech VC just like Dynaudios, and and are not overpriced IMO. I built a component set for my car with MW168s (a bit lower Q than the 164) with the Vifa D26 tweeter. I am really enjoying them.

Thanks for the suggestions, I may go with the Morels based on reputation. I haven't heard of Silverflute before.

My CD player has a 13 band EQ so I should be ok. My last set of components were Diamond Audio and I had to tweak them quite a bit to get a flat sound.
