Hello all i am very new to this board and have ventured into diy this summer.
I read through lots of the post and took the time to look at all the loud speaker pics and i i must say that i was impressed by many things.. so i know im in a good place. You guys know speakers like i know computers. So i trust i will get some great answers to this. Here is my ..Q: I have a subwoofer and although it sounds pretty nice , i think im not getting its full potential. I have 2 cerwin vega LE8D's 150watts rms each. The box i made is HxWxD 22X11X15 with a port centerd in the back , 3" diam. and about 6 inches long. Since i did that orig. set up i got a 250watt plate amp for it so ill have to do the back pannel again. And im wondering if there is a good design i should be using. Should i have each sub in a seperate chamber, and if so ... how should i do the porting. Also i used foam for a baffle.. it was like 10 bux ... suppose to be a matress for camping or something ..... its in cone shapes .. almost like a egg carton..... seems to work well ..... is this a bad thing to use? There was a definite improvement in sound after adding foam and a port...... The sub is used in HT, id like to get some punch out of it, but .. i get a fair bit from the fronts now. I feel now that the bass is boomie at times. But i do have it very close to the wall....... Ok enough Q's from me ,i appreciate all the insite you all may have. -Eric |
