I don't know Thomas but would like to read the review!
If you do a search you will find at least one person who has tried the Ciare on an open baffle and rated it very highly.

I am using the Ciare CH250 on an open baffle with bass drivers and a ribbon.
If you were wanting one driver on an open baffle I think that this one could not be bettered for the price. It has a high QTS and some decent cone area. I have lowered the Q as a mid driver by attaching another magnet. The reason that I chose the Ciare is that it does not have a rising response with frequency, one of the few. As for sound. It is very smooth and easy to listen to. No shout, or peakyness. Not quite the transparency of my Lowther, but none of the problems either. |

They strictly recommended it for use in an OB due to it's highish Qt. They also examined a modified version of the Ciare sold by Steinmusic that has a cone treatment with some C37-similar stuff and other mods. Measured smoother and even more extended in the topend, at a much higher price though. HobbyHifi didn't evaluate the drivers soundwise, but there's a few people here in germany using this driver with good success. Later, Oliver |
