Hi there people
I'm considering purchasing a set of Fostex fullrange FE206E drive units for a speaker project. I am wondering whether anyone has used these drive units in a non-horn speaker. What I would ideally like to do is create something slimline floorstanding with a t-line/passive radiator to enhance bass output a bit. Would also look at a ported design as a last resort! Has anyone tried any of these approaches and if so what success? What passives used and volume for enclosure? What T-line length? Any SE amps in particular a marriage made in heaven for these drive units? Someone mentioned gain clones. Also, anyone tried any of the Dammar type lacquers on the FE206E cone? Thanks in advance for any assistance/advice offered or reference to relevant links. _ |

Check Martin's site for a MLTL designed for the 206
http://www.quarter-wave.com/ I have never heard these speakers, but from spending enough time on the fullrange driver site I gather they benifit from damar on the whizzer, phase plugs, and something around the whizzer (polyfill I think?). All this is just second hand though. search around a bit I'm sure you'll find plenty. Joe |
