Default my first real measurement!

took time tonight to setup my stuff
using behringer ECM8000 condensor mic
with my Ego sys waveterminal sound card
to my Bryston 2b pro
driving 2 louspeaker system from Fischer
50th anniversary limited edition 3 way ..
kinda lousdpeaker that plays well for its low price
and age ( also aged design )
has 2 tweeter, unknown type,
and a 15" sub in each box

my parents purchased those with a sound system thing
for near 4000% a few decades ago ( ahhaha that sounds cool)

so used ETF5 to take measurement ..

their speakers are supposed to be flat dead
as stated under the cloth grills

here is the log response at 1/3 octave

measurement taken at approx 1 meter from louspeaker, only left channel playing, abd approz 1 meter high on stand

what u think?

this does not evne look near to what i get when measurement at listener location! hahah

they are stamped as #620 and 653 out of 1000 units i guess
kinda cool neway
ahah

they play a lot better when i bridge the bryston to 1 channel
selling out close to 150w instead of 60-80watts ..

That curve looks way too good for a first attempt at measurement on a new test system by an inexperienced operator.

hahahahaha

that is exactly what i thought when i saw it !!

verifided most settings though ..

but how can i be sure that everything is ok?

the sub 40hz seems way off for sure
i don't think that this system handles much lower than 40hz at all.

it is kinda hard determining the accuracy of this kind of measurement though
there is just no way i can use a sample something to put it versus...

but it does look good! ahaha

Yeah that response looks really good, especially for a first try

Looks like there is some reflection at 40-50hz. Maybe Something to do with the room.

But your right I cant see that thing going down to 20hz as your measurement shows.

Nice work.

waht u guys are saying with first timer?

i didn't program the software and didn't do the louspeaker neither

so the only error potentials would be software settings ..

though it has u pass trhough some tests before taking the measurements, and everything seems quite normal though

i'll make more tests tomorrow to see what i get!

anyone here using this ETF software?

Don't forget measuring technique, that is a big factor!

When I was in high school (final year) I got an SPL meter and measured test tones inside and outside at 1m. I remember getting about 40 db at 50 Hz and 103 db at 3kHz!!! I got a very good mark, probably because the physics teacher didn't know how to measure speakers!

The response you measured looks very smoothed! How did you set up? Was it indoors / outdoors? How did you measure the bass?

Hey,
Looks nice. Try an outdoor session if it is possible for you.
Run out the cables through the window or the like. Unless
you have a lap-top computer.
I was once thinking of making some mobile setup to use a nice eve
on the field in the country at grandpas. I know a friend who did
and the results where the same as the anechoic chamber at the
university.

Damn, got to go and get a full duplex soundcard...

test was done in my room, mic at 1 meter approx from speaker
at approx 1meter from ground

as you can see on the graph top, gate was set to 200ms
blackman harris type i think

for sure it is smoothed a bit by the software,
but this is a 1/3 octave only frequ response, don't know
much of the implication of this measurement though ..

is it a usual test at 1/3octave??
