Im thinking about a 2 way using the following drivers:

Do i need a notch filter for the woofer for that huge rise at 6khz? Also, should i use an lpad on the tweeter to attempt to semi-match the sensitivity? or could i run this woofer up to about 7khz 1st order, then the tweeter covering up from that, still using an Lpad. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=299-495 I'd like to hear anything about this.

You definately need something to tame that peak at 5k. A zobel with 2nd order electrical might do it. Especially if you add some BSC into the equation. And you will need an Lpad if you expect to play these speakers in the same room with you.
I would look for a different tweeter...... Like this one. Put a 4mfd cap on it and it will give you a (I'm approximating here) about a third order acoustic slope at fc of 5k and should have a fairly flat response from 5k up. And the small impedence peak at 1700 will be nothing to worry about.... HTH, -=Tim=-

i thought about that tweeter but the Freq. responce is a little bad. Also, im not sure what an electrical slope is. I really like the idea of the audax and the buyout 5 1/4 crossed at 4k. The tweeter should be on a higher slope considering the Fs. Can i just run the woofer up to 4khz 2nd order and then the tweeter 5khz 2nd order, and let the slope of the woofers crossover tame down the 5khz peak? That seems easier. I will still utilize an Lpad on the tweeter to even things out.

Go MTM, with woofers this cheap you're silly not to. That will raise the woofer sensitivity up quite close to the tweeter's and will help overcome the baffle step as well. Use a 3rd order crossover on both; that will tame the peak of the woofers and allow using the tweeter down to 4kHz without worry of damaging it. You never want to mix odd and even order crossovers, and at 4kHz the component cost of 3rd order is reasonable.

So if i go MTM, the woofers Impedience is now 4 ohms, tweeter is still 8. This means the tweeter gets half the power. Plus i tack on an extra 3db from parrelleling the two woofers. So i no longer need an Lpad, correct? Should be fine then. And third order for both. For some reason i dont know why letting the woofer go up to 4.5khz 2nd order, and the tweeter from 5k up wouldnt work. But ill trust an expert.

All the boxes i model seem large, should i just run these OB down to around 60hz? They do have a pretty high QTS, giveing me a bump at FS.
