There's a poster on audio asylum who wants to build speakers out of lumber he has sitting in his garage. Sounds like nice stuff: south-american hardwood with pieces up to 40" wide. Some guy told him to build a table and not "waste" it on speakers! I'm sure there are people here that could give him better advice than that.
