Default Nice tweeter for a 2k crossover

Building a 2-way Bookshelf and have a 6.5 woofer that seems to work the best with a 1.8k - 2.2k crossover point. Any ideas for a nice tweeter that can handle a cross that low. My budget is about $200 for two.

Thanks

Scan 95/97/99 etc. Use a restrap on the 97 and 99 at that frequency.

Why every 28mm Seas speaker? What's the magic with 'em?

I'm investigating for tweeters, too, to match one or two woofers/ch. The woofer that caught my attention is the Peerless HDS 6¾" 850439. Anyone know which one suits it? Could possibly be at 2kHz also.

Well there is not uch magic about then except that they deliver a lot of quality for the money and they are quite easy to implement, except the Exel series but they are to expensive.

What about Vifa ones at this freq crossover? The PL, MG & TC lines? Are they pretty good?

I'm thinking about using either a 5 1/4 CSX or HDS Peerless woofer, so I may bump up to 2.5K or 3K crossover.

H4Door,

Why are you going for the 5" woofer in stead of the 6" ?? My concern (and reason for putting my cents down for 6") is the ability to fill a room with sound while playing deep enough (low freq.) at decent levels.

I've also considered going for 2 woofers in parallel. Any pro/cons on that issue?
...and would it change the choice of tweeter (my main doubt)?

Default Restrap?

5th Element. I may just be confused but what do you mean by "restrap". Looks like the scanspeak 95/97/99's are headed towards the best choice. I love Dynaudio products but haven't heard much about the D28, although there is a pair on Ebay ending soon.

Dynaudio stuff is great but they took themselves out of the DIY market and are hard to find now. The D28 is a very smooth detailed tweeter with high power handling. It can be crossed over very low compared to a Vifa 1". The best choice in my mind is the Scanspeak 9500. Does what you want it to do very well and is readily available.
