I need some info on my snell C type 10 inch woofer. One of the woofer needs replacement and I don't know which manufactuer built the speakers for Snell.I called the company and they said they do not have a matching woofer.Does anybody know which company Snell used in the 80's?or have a Snell 10 inch woofer for sale?I really like the speakers but I don't have a solution to this problem. There are some numbers on the speaker but I can not reference it with any speaker company. If Kevin Voecks is reading this maybe he could help me?

What's wrong with the woofer? If the surround is rotting, you can repair it.
My Snell K/IIs use peerless woofers if I remember correctly. It's been a while but back when they were in production, I remember looking up the woofer part number for fun in the Madisound catalog. Pull the woofer out and look for a label. |

My friend has a Snell two way floor stander.
I think there was a tweeter at the back . The foam surround fell off ( rotted). So we picked up a rubber surround from the local market and it now works fine. Total cost of repair including materials ( for 2 woofers) was about US$2/- . The woofer was made by Vifa ! There was a label on it. Cheers.

I just ordered two replacement woofers for a snell CII at 140$ each. I was told there was no replacement for a while and they were only reconing old woofers, but they recently found woofers to work as replacements and are now selling them.

I have been corresponding with Snell on a replacement woofer for type C "original", availability has been intermittent but they are available for now, cost is about $163 including USA shipping.

thought I would jump in here with some snell info
I have a pair of snell type J the woofers in this model are seas CA21 the surrounds were rotted so I replaced them with new ones from Partsexpress. I have done this successfully with a number of drivers with excellent results every time . allso If you want to try making phase plugs it is a good time as you need to remove the dust cap to shim the voice coil. i have made and installed about 8 or 9 sets of phase plugs. |
