Exclamation Q: what does 46mm of excursion look like? A: like this .....

And now for your entertainment pleasure ....

Just for fun I decided to create a 3D model of my Stryke AV12 to create a 3D animation of this beast moving to its xmax limits - 46mm p-p. I wasn't able to imagine what this would look like until I actually sent 5 Hz test tones to the real thing - it looks like it is really asking a lot of the surround to move that far, even though the suspension system can handle 60mm p-p cone travel.

If you try to push the cone to its xmax with your hands, it is a surprise - very difficult. The force required is extreme and it is quite hard to move it even half of its xmax.

Here it is ...

This will soon be going onto my website in an enhanced form.

Your website is also really smart and dark, well done.

Its much better than my Front page effort, LOL.

If you ever want a job web designing let me know,

My web designer has been working on my website for about 3 months and he has 1 page! he likes his drink a little to much!

No offence, but your website looks like it was made with powerpoint. The "transitions" of the text is quite anoying.

Thanks for the comments

First I made a 3D model using AutoCAD. I created the 3D model for 3 frames:

1. "rest" position
2. inward excursion - 23mm in from rest position
3. outward excursion - 23 mm out from rest position

I then rendered 3 frames to get raster images. Then I used Adobe Photoshop to enhance a little and add a slight blur effect and Adobe Imageready to animate them - an animated gif file with 3 frames. It's actually surprisingly easy to do all this and it doesn't take that long.

I had a look at your site and those are some impressive looking subwoofers! I would be interested in doing some web design work. I'll send you a message ...

Perhaps you could elaborate on "annoying?" If you simply don't like the effect, then it's your opinion and you are entitled to it. If you mean that on your connection it is slow to load, or something else I haven't considered, then perhaps it's worth changing. As I have a fast connection, it's hard for me to appreciate what it is like on slower connections.

If by your powerpoint comment you are suggesting that my site is tacky, I respectfully differ.

If you or anyone else has constructive criticisms, I welcome them.

Both negative comments were towards Paradise_Ice's page, I believe.

I was commenting on Paradise_Ice's site as I find that the way that the text swoops onto the page after a delay irritating every time you load a page.
