Hello...I am considering using the Eton ER4 AMT tweeter in a dipole design. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions of this driver? Does it have the vertical dispersion problems that most other ribbon/planar type drivers have? It is expensive (~$300), so I want to do my homework before laying out that kind of money.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts! ...Mike http://www.eton-gmbh.de/ShowPage.php?PId=19&LangId=2 |

Well I don't have experience myself. And cannot comment on the dispersion. But I can relay the experience of Doede Douma of DDDAC.DE fame. Although he has "moved on", I think to Accuton diamond tweeter ($2800 per piece), he loved the ER4. His words went something like this.
Listening to a conventional/typical tweeter is like listening to music with your mother in law on the couch. Listening to the ER4 is like listening to music with a beautiful 19 year old girl on your couch. Does that help? Regards, Bas |
