Lightbulb 2.5 way or mtm

I am wanting to build a set of 2.5 way or mtm with a good detailed pair of 6.5 or 8. What I want to end up with is very good detailed mids with solid low end and a smooth relaxed treble. The mid quality and detail are very importand to me and I would also prefer not to go 3 way, and obviously this will be a floorstanding unit. Does anyone have any ideas or a link to a well documented design that would fill this search.
