I'm considering doing John's notch filter for the Tang Band W3-871s but I wanted to double the drivers to get some more SPL. Would doing this affect the function of the notch filter as published? Obviously, the impedance would be different, but I don't know if that effects anything else.

Yes it does, because the notch filter works on the impedance of the drivers if you change the drivers impedance you need to change the notch filter.
Double cap values and half inductor & resistor values if you are connecting two in parallel. Matt

I'm going to be building this thing that I posted about a few days ago. I've re-thought the design a bit and been looking into some different options that people mentioned, particularly the W3-871s. Not fiberglass though, I don't think I'm up for that.
I want to use it as a PC speaker system as well as a portable system. I don't know if a single W3-871 per side will be enough volume so I might go with two. I'll probably try both configurations and see how they compare. |

yup, thanks for the suggestion. The savings in weight and $$$ were too much to ignore and with all the buzz around here about those little drivers I wanted to say that I at least gave them a shot!

Good speaker combo. I just listened to my w3-871s & Dayton 8" DVC combo together for the first time last night.
I was impressed. |
