Default Bushhorn Mk-2 Notch Filter?

It seems that we hijacked a non-horn post with horn questions and this question is still unanswered. I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on the B'horn Mk-2 notch filter? I saw it on this site but didn't see the values of the components: http://www.geocities.com/northbirdte...hhorn_mkii.htm

I sent the owner of the site an email a few days ago, but the email address may not be active.
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing, as I am building Mk II's right now, too. I e-mailed "Serge" several times over the last few months and got neither a bounceback or a response. Oh well.

FWIW I built these Solo 103's ( http://home.hetnet.nl/~geenius/Solo103.html ) which included notch filters. The values given are .82 mH coil, 4.7uF cap and 10ohm (10-watt) resistor.

Wire all three in parallel, then put the assembled filter in series between the binding post and the positive speaker terminal. BTW, use the lowest DCR coil you can reasonably afford. The bass passes through it and you sure don't wanna add any more resistance there than you have to.

This combo did a good job of removing any excessive mids from the Solo 103's. Absent any given Mk II values, I will likely use them for my Mk II's if they need a notch filter.

Hope that helps.

Here's the FE103S notch filter, but for other drivers, ask Pit:

Is the 'dustcapectomy' recommended for the FE103S with the notch filter in place? If so, is there a correct size/shape/material of phase plug required, or is room size and speaker location a big factor?

Don't know about the notch filter issue, but phase plug shape is totally dependent on the specific driver. The material just ideally needs to be well damped, so wood/filled lipstick cap/brass rod/whatever are suitable.

Serge's site also mentions using Damar varnish on the FE103s. Where on the speakers do you put it and what is it's purpose?

It's for damping resonances and is driver specific. Do a search on the FR forum, there's been many good threads on tweaking drivers. http://f18.parsimony.net/forum31999/ Most FR drivers need far more than just Dammar.
