Speaker Gaskets - Woofers & Tweeters (Odin Project)

Hi!

I'm just finishing up my SEAS Odin Mk3 project (an MTM ported design), and have run into an interesting problem: what to use for the driver gaskets?

I ordered the parts as a kit from Solen, and they didnt include anything for the purpose. I have some of those messy gasket-calk-roll stuff from parts express, left over from a previous project, but I don't want to use that stuff - I want to be able to remove the drivers cleanly - no messy stuff.

So: I assume that I need a gasket for both woofers and tweeter (right?) - and I want something solid. Is there a usual material / procedure? Any cautions / advice?

PS: I should be done the speakers very soon - I will post a full photo report on the whole construction in about a week! My first audiophileish speakers! I'm so excited!

If you have a good flat mating surface for the drivers you don't need the gaskets. I you were doing a sealed box that a maybe.
If you cabinet has thin walls then you should consider using a gasket.

My Thor TL kit from Madisound came with thin foam tape, which works great. I ordered a bunch more of it, and have been using it for all my speaker projects ever since.

I've used weather stripping, for sealing windows & doors to prevent draughts. It's thin foam, cheap and readily available. Try hardware or household stores especially in winter
