Hi there,
so far I experimented a little with the Tangband W3-871S for my PC-setup (nearfield). I tried John Krutkes small sealed and a ML-TL which you can see here . Due to my motivation to further experiment but also to some serious lacquer experiments that´ll probably force me to scrap one of my prototypesI´m gonna go now for 2 drivers per channel. Besides the obvious ELF1.5 or maybe a push-push ML-TL I got the idea to build something like a small "Thor". As I understand 2-driver-ML-TL-design, you´ve got two woofers that drive the line from two different offset positions so the "3/4Lambda SPL-holes" are at two different frequencies and would be not as strong as with one driver. Now Martin King´s "Two driver.pdf" tells me to simulate that with the average position of the two drivers which I did. I get similar results (but higher SPL due to parallel) to my first ML-TL in a bigger enclosure with the same lenght. Now the big questions is: Will it work as simulated and can I just take 2 positions on the line that get me (in average) the simulated driver offset or is there maybe a golden ratio/rule (maybe as close as possible) to go for? I´ll include graph and data for a sanity check for those interested: line lenght=15.75in So=Sd=31in^2 offset=0.4 port diameter=1.81in port lenght=1.575in Thanks a heap for da hints! Regards Jens |
