hi
i am in the third year of my degree and our final group project is to design a sound reinforcement system for a critical listening environment. for this environment we have chosen the focal point in a shopping cenre in leeds. The walls do have acoustic treatmenst to minimize reverberation yet we tend to install a temporary pa system and we need some highly directional speakers. Does anybody know of any such products? |

Line arrays may be what you are looking for. Since they focus sound within the vertical plain of the array, just elevate the array and angle is downward for a focused listening area. You may even be able to focus the array further with a concave layout of the baffles. I know this works for near field listening, but far field may present more problems.
