Hello diyaudio community,
For an artistic installation requiring 8 small speakers with 8 channels of sound I am looking for ideas for an inexpensive solution based on 8 portable cd players connected to its own speaker. I looked at multi-track playback from a computer and a soundcard capable of multiple outs, but that breaks the budget. Instead, I am looking at taking the line level output of a portable cd-player and boosting the (mono) signal to a cheap 2 - 4" speaker. I suppose you would do some signal attenuation to accomplish this... can anyone point me in the direction of some circuits or links? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks, audiostudent |

If your power output requirements are modest, you might build an amplifier based on the LM386 chip. Absolutely minimum parts and it operates on a single 12 volt supply.
