Default Aurum Cantas Tweeters

It seems that Aurum Cantas tweeters are the same as the Celeritas line from Clofis. Clofis claim it's the same designer as the guy who desigened the raven's.

http://www.clofis.nl/nl/celeritas/celeritas.htm

http://www.e-speakers.com///products/ac-ribbons.html

Can anybody advice ?

How do these tweeters sound against C12 from Thiel or ER4 from Eton ot D2904/7000 ringradiator from Scanspeak ?

They sure look alike -- what can I say. If so, Clofis is more expensive than e-speakers or madisound (who's models are called "fountek" and also look quite similar)

Hmmmm, allegedly the Ravens are designed (and manufactured??) in France according to Orca specs; the A-cantus, etc, are made in China...

For another ribbon line that looks near identical to the Ravens, try "Audio Valve" from http://www.hautparleursystemes.com/s...utparleurs.htm

Haven't tried the others mentioned, but b/ween the Raven 2 and the SS, I preferred the Raven on a matter of tonality (probably). The SS sounded harsh -- as if it needed some notching or padding ~8-10kHz -- in any case, it needed some work.
This was an experiment on an open baffle speaker with a front-loaded Lowther doing the work down to 150Hz -- so, nothing very scientific. BTW, in a quick measurement (4kHz onward), both units measured well.
Cheers

Aurum Cantus has unntil recently been distributed under a variety of names. Here in Norway, they are "as we speak" distributed as "MTg" og "MT ribbons". The Norwegian distributor also claim these ribbons to be a design of the man behind the Ravens, so this is most likely to be a fact i think.. regarding the production in China, it is most likely due to the same reasons many others choose to move production to china: Low production costs...

Makes sense, Rocky

OTOH, it'd be interesting to hear from s/one who has compared an "A-Cantus" (using this as a generic name ) to a Raven...

Default Aurum Cantus under different ames

Thx Rocky, Greg

If they are just different branding names (what I think too) fine.
Makes it easy for me with regard to availability in Holland (Clofis)

Any comment on sound quality of these "aurum cantus" compared to what is know as the absolute top ?

Adrie,
I won`t comment about sound quality except to say that when
I first hooked my GS1`s I said to myself (S**t, these suck ect.)
after about 2 hours they started to sound better, after 6 hours or
so..... well when you put on one of your favorite records and (discover) that there were 4 more singers that you hadn`t ever heard doing back up.........

The Celeritas do look identical to my AC's

The Fountek are different in various details.

I got the Aurum Cantus because it has a good reputation for consistant quality- a problem with some Manufacturers in China
It didn't cost that much more.
