Im getting round to build mine. I have a few projects on the go too. Really another pair of speakers too both which I want to get done.

I have made one of the boxes and 99% finished it, all I need to sand the polish again, give it a final coat and then burnish.

The other one had a bit of a disaster, the way I was building it was not very good and unfortuantely sanded thru the veneer on the front.... So im routing the front off and putting it back on again.

I am however going to finish the pair I am on now which is the peerless 850467 and scan speak d2905/95 combo. Im in the process of veneering these, which takes AGES, a day a peice because the glue takes so long to set. Hide glue is great for veneering but takes a while to set. After these are done I will finish the other audax mini box and have a bril looking pair of monster minis for cheap.

The problem with these little speakers is they are only suitable really for use on their own, ie not a MTM, because they present a very difficult load when wired in parallel. I am making a TM with a vifa tweeter.

I would post a picture but cannot atm because the room where the camera usually is is being decorated, thus I dont know where it is.

My project for these has taken a back seat as well. I think I did get carried away with buying them too I need to get my subs finished then I can look at a pair of desktop monitors with the AP100Z0s.

I did think about buying some more 100s and making a line array, but I think the 130 would be a better choice.

I'm on the lookout for some TM025F1 tweeters if anybody's got any of those.

OK heres the one thats turned out OK. As I said needs another sand and another few coats of french pollish, and then a burnish to make it REALLY shiney. But as you can see, its quite reflective as it is.

Wow - nice work, Mr Element!

How did you achieve that finish - French polish directly onto the veneer or did you lacquer/varnish first?

Nice one,
David.

Nope just french polish directly onto the veneer. First paint the polish on for about three or four coats. Then just put the polish on in the standard way, if you dont know what this is then its worth reading about it somewhere.

The sand the polish with a light sandpaper, about a 240 or 400, this evens out the finish and makes it flat. Then put more polish on to get the finish back. Depedning on how much you originally sanded you may or may not need to sand again. But I played it safe and hence I need to sand again. After that polish again and the finish comes back, even better then the 1st or 2nd time you have applied the finish. Leave it for a few days to harden, after that use burnishing cream to really bring out a shine.

Looks great!

How do you get the veneer to go over the compound corners at the front baffle? I'm assuming both the side edges are rounded as well as the top and bottom edges.

Heh no, the rounded corners is only on the front.

I stick a piece of 12.5mm MDF on the front which is about 12.5mm shorter on the top bottom and two sides, of the overall box size. This ledge which is 12.5mm is then filled with bits of cherry wood, and then routed to the curve.
