Default FRD & ZMA Files for Focal Drivers? (Speaker Workshop)

I am using Speaker Workshop to design a three way system and I am now trying to locate the FRD (frequency responce) and ZMA (impedance responce) files for the following drivers:

TC 120 TD5
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/compo/tweeter/tc120td5.htm

Audiom 6 WM
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/compo/midrange/a_6wm.htm

10 W 6411
http://www.focal.tm.fr/gb/compo/woofer/10w6411.htm

Can anyone help ???

You can make your own.

Subwoofer Simulator, written by our own F4ier, will model such things as impedance and phase impedance, and turn them into ZMA files-he has a provision right in the File menu to do that.
http://www.geocities.com/f4ier/subsim.htm

Isaac, or F4ier, is also one of the designers for the FRD Consortium, which page is here:
http://www.pvconsultants.com/audio/frdgroup.htm

However, I would not use Subwoofer Simulator to model the frequency response. Frequency response is not only dependent on inductance, but on such matters as cone resonances, etc., which Subwoofer Simulator cannot model. Frequency wise, Subwoofer Simulator is pretty much limited to bass behavior. Impedance wise, there is no reason to think it cannot do the full spectrum-to my knowledge, electrical impedance and phase is not dependent upon cone breakup.

Among the other programs written by members of the SPL group is SPL Tracer, which can take a published frequency response chart and turn it into an frd file.

I have not used these files, but others on this forum who have used these programs have tried them and said that they work.

PS: I am not sure about modelling the impedance phase of a tweeter in Subwoofer Simulator, but I imagine there is no difference between an enclosed speaker of a certain fs, Qes and Qms and an unenclosed speaker with the same parameters, I think it should work. Just fill in the parameters for the tweeter, then simulate it in a closed box of 10 cu ft or so, (to essentially place the speaker in a free field, impedance wise),and it should work out. Basically, you are pretending that you are modelling an unenclosed speaker with the same parameters as the enclosed tweeter-there should be no difference.

Default SPL Tracer

Just used SPL Tracer and it works great !.

I managed to import the images from the JM labs web site for the drivers....

Thanks!!

Pleased to be of help.

Don't forget Subwoofer Simulator if you need something for impedance phase.
