I'm considering building a pair of IPL m3tl's. I was wondering if anybody had any comments on how these would match with my Arcam electronics (alpha 7r amp, alpha 8 CD).
All comments are most welcome. Mike |

I went to see Ivan Leslie to audition some kit speakers and took along my Arcam A60. It worked so well with his speakers, that by the time I telephoned him the next day, he had bought one to use for demo-ing his speakers.
I bought the A2 kit and it worked brilliantly with the Arcam A60. Ivan takes care to make sure his speakers work well with most amps so I would be extremely surprised if you didn't find yours is an excellent combination. I know quite a few people have built the M3tls and I have yet to hear of a dissatisfied customer!

If this model of IPL TLs are anything like the all metal driver S3TLMs, they will sound extremely lush and relaxed - fantastic IMHO. (I expect Ivan makes 'em sound similar)
Combined with the rather reserved Arcam amp you have, you can probably rule out the possibility of thrills! But you probably like a laid-back sound as you already have the Arcam Alpha kit. Someone once said transmission lines need a lot of power to work well, but I think that's probably a crock of...... Enjoy them, I bet they'll be lovely, especially in the bass.
