Ever seen a solid wood box blow apart? Problem with solids construction is that movement must be allowed in order for the object to survive. Not really an issue with basic furniture, tables, chairs, doors etc. Speaker cabinets should have corner joints that are tight. Panels that are consistent in density and dimensional stability. The needs here are at odds with solids construction.Yeah I know because of warping. The way to stop that is to take 1x4 boards, plane them, edge them, glue them together alternating grain, it takes a lot of time but you can get a solid piece if you do it that way.
