Hi guys.
I'm sorry, this must be an awfully redundant topic for you, but I've looked all over and I can't find any conclusive information. While hunting around for a pair of new speakers, I learned that building my own might not be such a bad idea... So I'm starting out knowing nothing except what a few webpages told me. I'm looking to build a pair of $200-300 2-ways. Part of the fun of this project is designing the thing rather than using a premade kit, so can anyone suggest where to start? How do I know which drivers sound good together? How do I select a crossover frequency? How do I design my enclosure to produce the best sound? If I'm using a 2nd-order L-R crossover, how do I eliminate the phase shift? If I'm building $250 speakers, does it really matter that I use polypro vs. mylar caps, for instance? I suppose I have a billion questions so if someone could direct me to a book or a webpage, or answer any of the questions above, I would be infinitely grateful. Thanks! |
