Default Output abilities of different tweeters...

In the PA speakers I am making, I would like to use a driver for the high frequencies that is not a horn.

Generally speaking, what type of driver tends to have the most output capabilities, a dome, bullet, slot, or even a ribbon like the Apex Jr ribbon....

http://www.apexjr.com/speakerstuff.html

I assume that the surface area of the driver is the most important, but I don't know how some drivers act at high SPL's, especially ribbons.

I know that the horn will keep dispersion under control, but I would prefer to stay away from the horn sound (especially in the midrange) and find another way to control the dispersion.

Its a fairly general rule that distortion is related to operating power
and consequently horn loaded tweeters have lower distortion when
operated in a PA due to their high senstivity and consequent after
padding low operating power.

Very hard to get away from in a PA.

Ribbons resemble fuses far too much, i.e. peak power is very
similar to continuous power due to low thermal "mass" to be
of reliable use in a PA.
