I own a pair of Fostex FW 305 woofers that are rated at about 95db/watt sensitivity-

I tried to make 2 way using these and a Heil AMT tweeter crossing at about 1000Hz but could not get it to sound right.I suspect the Fostex is really best used as a pure woofer below about 400Hz and not in a two way.

So I was wanting to match it with a similar sensitivity midrange .This Audax looks like it might do the job-

It is rated at 100db/watt but if you look at the response it is more like 95db 500Hz to 4000Hz.

Which just leaves a similar sensitivity tweeter.Any suggestions for that?

I had in mind crossover points at around 400Hz and 4-5000Hz.

Any thoughts, suggestions or experience using these drivers and crosssover that might suit?
Trying to keep it 8 ohm and as simple as possible.

Do not blame FW 305, the problem is in the crossover.
Did you measure the drivers mounted in the loudspeaker enclosure? Which simulation software are you using?

From a quick review:
*Fostex FW 305 datasheet shows SPL ~93db. In-Room placement baffle step effects could reduce this to ~90db.
*WinISD simulation recommends, 2cuft ported Qtc=0.7 alignment -F3=46Hz

Suggestion for a reasonable cost 90-92db SPL tweeter-mid with Zmin~4ohms:
SB_Acoustics: SB26STCN-C000-4 92.5db sensitivity ($33)
Satori: MR16P-4 92db sensitivity ($148)

This combination would build a very musical speaker in a modest size 2.5cuft ported box. Room bass gain can strengthen the -F3=46Hz.

The FW305 has a Xmax=4.8mm, and this will limit bass output if you decide to build a 1.7cuft sealed alignment with DSP Linkwitz Transform equalization to reach -F3=30Hz bass.
