Default Need a suggestion for midrange

.. as neutral as possible, to be crossed at 500-5000, 90db efficiency or better, for a sealed enclosure.

Thanks,

Tiago

These are going cheap in Australia. $125 a pair.

Can't vouch for them personally perhaps another member can.

From what I observe this is the impression I get

level 1: Dayton, generic brands

level 2: Audax/Morel/Focal standard/Scan Speak

level 3: the specific vifa model sreten mentioned

level 4: Focal Wcone/audiom series

level 5: Seas Excel

level 6: Accuton 2" dome

level 7: Skaaning Flex Units

level 8: ATC 3" middome

other option is PHL, which i cant comment on.

The implementation is important, a genious speaker builder can make a speaker using cheap drivers sound as good as speakers with expensive drivers.

Thank you for your responses.

sreten: Do you have an experience with the driver you recommended in a sealed enclosure?

tech.nockout: what dayton driver you had in mind? With a quick browsing I found a midrange 2"dome?!? I wonder how that sounds?

The question here is finding a driver that sounds good and as less coloured as possible in a sealed enclosure. As you probably have noticed, it is a 3way speaker.
I happen to like kevlar drivers for midrange, though I can't seem to find any with an efficiency in the order of 90db..

the dome, use it only if your budget is really tight or when your copying the Lyra project.

You should always go for the Vifa sreten mentioned if you can afford it.
