Cheap foam surround replacements direct from China?

Hey everyone,

I just picked up an old set of advent prodigy speakers. As per normal the surrounds are shot.

My question is, are the cheap direct from China surrounds any good? Has anyone used them? You can get them for about $3 a pair vs $25 for the "kit" from US sellers. My gut feeling is they are probably the same surrounds.

Can't say. I would go with the USA sourced kits if they claim to be for your speaker and/or drivers. If you have a half-assed DIY method, that actually worked ok (some damage tho) check my thread at

The one surround fits all isn't the best way to go. They aren't the same. I have tried cheaper ones. Specific repops are worth buying if you want to keep the speakers for a while. Advent Speaker Repair Foam Edge Kits
