some people say you should:
2. Round the baffle edges 3. Offset the tweeter/midrange so that the distances from the dges are different. Now I see lots of speakers that dont obey these rules at all. Can somone explain this? and then theres this rule about distance between the drivers must be a fraction of the wavelength of the Xover frequency |

These are not as much "rules" as they are just things to consider to make a better sounding speaker. Some designs need such features more than others, and some won't sound very good if they're not implemented. Most designs benefit from baffle edge-rounding, and I recommend using the largest-radius bit you can get. Offset tweeters/midranges are a less common feature but can be beneficial in some designs. But personally, I like my speakers symmetrical...
