Hi, I've bought a used HiQ sound crossover and need some help wiring it up in a 2 way system. I've attached a picture of the crossover and the previous owner has labelled the connections.
My questions are do I connect the input negative and the woofer negative to the common negative on the board? Thanks for any info, J

Thanks. Sorry the picture must have been too large upload. I'll try again

What I can tell you is that polarity should usually be positive on both drivers. Which means earth or common goes to negative on both. I'm really not sure what the silver thing with two resistors is.

But flipping and inverting the back view might help us decipher what looks like your regular second order filter. I'd presume the little orange capacitors aren't doing much.

Whether it is remotely suitable for your drivers remains to be seen. What are they?

I'm hoping to make a wedge monitor and was told that the speakers and crossover had come from a similar set up. If you look at the solder joints you can see where the wires have been removed. As said above and from reading up, normally both speakers would be wired to common negative.

I had actually noticed the negative polarity on the tweeter, but in the lack of knowledge about the drivers, I was unwilling to speculate. :)

The little orange capacitors are the sort of thing I'd associate with treble lift on a horn driver. And some sort of big high-efficency woofer.

I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't spent a lot of time on this yet. TBH, it's a bit like spending the whole weekend on the Guardian Weekend Crossword. Best to sleep on the final 5 clues. :D

But if it is a horn tweeter, where's the lightbulb limiter I'd find in an Eminence filter?

For sure, LR2 is a negative polarity solution when time aligned.
