I'm building the new vifa towers and I was wondering what I should use to build the crossover on? I've read that you can have the woofer and tweeter on seperate boards so I was wondering what to use so I can order it along with all my other stuff if possible. Also where should I mount it? I know the inductors shouldn't be near the drivers and it's good to have access to this if you need to change something, but that would require this to be on the outside of the box, how would that be possible?
I'm guessing some kind of PC board for the crossover, but all the ones I find seem to be pre setup for a particular design. Also, if you use bi-amp terminal then do you just wire the crossovers seperately to a terminal and a speaker? I also seem to be having a hard time finding a 50ohm resistor. I'd like to get a high quality one and not have to go to radioshack or something. |

I either just hardwire mine in a mass of wires OR I make it on a bit of thin plywood or MDF, drilling holes where the wires for the components go and holding them in place with plastic cable ties. Teh annoying things that u find on pakadging that you can never undo!

Just put a tagstrip on a piece of 6mm MDF. Makes wiring easy and neat.

A new guy at work just talked me into making my own circuit board. He is going to help me with the first couple, but says it's easy. Maybe look into that for a professional type look.

I use PCB's (usually 3"x4"), just the normal ones with a bunch of holes and copper on one side. There only a $1 or so (even RadioShack sells em cheap, except Fry's their really expensive).
Like the board in this picture ![]() Usually for 16awg inductors the holes are a tad to small, so I use one of those pick things like in this picture to manually open the hole more.
