Also, speakers in the Lyra are supposed to be "flush mounted".

One last thing-- there is no mention of any required stuffing for the inside of the speaker box.

My wife and sister are excited to hear about this. They packed their bags last night. Now all they need are the air tickets. You may email me offfline and I can give you my postal address so these can be fedexed asap. Since they are coming all the way from Bombay to NY they'd need 2 things that can help them get there quicker so they are ale to help u before your project is over. (1) a letter from you so that hey can get their visas and (2) living quarters close to the UN and transport to and from the UN.

You will need a router to flush mount the drivers if you are building the cabinet.

polyfil will do nicely. if you use foam use open cell foam.

as far as poly fil is concerned about 1 kg per cu.ft. is what i start with. I have got away with less. lay the poly fill on speaker walls and dont crown the rear of the woofer.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. I'll just use Michael Bloomberg's wife and sister. They're a lot closer and their ears are just fine. Besides, I think Bloomberg's sister is diggin' tha K-Dogg, if you know what I'm sayin'. Could be we relax later in the evening to a little smoove music on my new Lyrazzz...

Besides, I'm the Secretary General of the United Nations NOT the head of the US State Department-- I can't pull strings on the visas and I ain't got the coin to get folks from India to NYC-- I can't even afford real dampening material!

Thanks for the advice on the polyfill. Its about $2 US per bag at the craft store, so I'm glad to have an economical solution to the dampening issue.

Project 90% complete-- I still have to put the gaskets and the final screws in the speakers, but its up and working and it sounds great.

I got a little sawdust in the silk dome for the tweeter and maybe its my imagination but I think that tweeter is buzzing a little. Is there any way to clean this or will I be buying a new tweeter?

Anyway, here's the proof that I DIYed this weekend:

Further proof follows. Please ignore the exercise videos and the "Sex With Ugly Women in the City" videotape collection-- they're Mrs. A's. Really.

Thanks. I tried the tape trick and it worked great!

I need to give mad props to my HomeSkillet, Gallaga. Here's G-Money just before the project began. He cut all the wood while I hit the bottle.
