You will need a router to flush mount the drivers if you are building the cabinet. polyfil will do nicely. if you use foam use open cell foam. as far as poly fil is concerned about 1 kg per cu.ft. is what i start with. I have got away with less. lay the poly fill on speaker walls and dont crown the rear of the woofer.

Besides, I'm the Secretary General of the United Nations NOT the head of the US State Department-- I can't pull strings on the visas and I ain't got the coin to get folks from India to NYC-- I can't even afford real dampening material! Thanks for the advice on the polyfill. Its about $2 US per bag at the craft store, so I'm glad to have an economical solution to the dampening issue. Kofi |

Project 90% complete-- I still have to put the gaskets and the final screws in the speakers, but its up and working and it sounds great.
I got a little sawdust in the silk dome for the tweeter and maybe its my imagination but I think that tweeter is buzzing a little. Is there any way to clean this or will I be buying a new tweeter? Anyway, here's the proof that I DIYed this weekend: |

Further proof follows. Please ignore the exercise videos and the "Sex With Ugly Women in the City" videotape collection-- they're Mrs. A's. Really.

Last one. Here's my attempt at the crossover. I wound up putting in inside the speaker.

Thanks. I tried the tape trick and it worked great!
I need to give mad props to my HomeSkillet, Gallaga. Here's G-Money just before the project began. He cut all the wood while I hit the bottle. |
