Im building a small active system for my girlfriend's worK. I have a very limited size and budget to work with.
So far my idea is tc9fd18 crossed at 100~200hz to grs 5pf-8 GRS 5PF-8 5-1/4" Paper Cone Foam Surround Woofer
A stereo chipamp within the speaker will power the units and im opting for line level crossover to save cost.
What do you guys think?
And how about adding a dayton tweeter for 3way? Do you think its worth the effort?
Or how about dayton tweeter + tc9fd 2 way instead? Cross the tweet way high like a supertweet

Yeah, build this : - http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/308576-dayton-mini-monitor-illustrated-guide.html
You could try a PLLXO crossover instead of the passive XO.
Another option to make it smaller would be to build it sealed but add a subwoofer. But then you have to find space for the subwoofer.

PLLXO is a good idea as well. But I recommend 1st order PLLXO only, then add additional orders with speaker level components. For example to tweeter use 1st order PLLXO and a protection cap, which totals as a 2nd order crossover.
I've used this on a previous project, and it worked very well.
