Default Transcendent T8 for Eton drivers

I am currently building a Transcendent T8 OTL and I am planning a new speaker as my new project. The driver that I like is 7' or 8' Eton. However, I have heard that Eton driver is very difficult to drive and I woulder if it is a good choice for my T8.

My T8 is a mono block which produce 40W for 4ohms speakers and 80W for 8 ohms speakers.

Thanks

Re ETON 8".

I have recently built a pair of speakers to my own design using 2 off 8" ETON in a vented enclosure with a 5" ETON Bass Mid in a sealed box with an ETON tweeter. See my post on this site regarding the speakers, there is a photograph of them.

I am running them off both a Kelvin Labs 18 wpc pure class A tranny amp or a CARY 2A3 pse stereo pwer amp of approx 7 wpc.

No problems driving the speakers at all with that little power.

I have also used my MAGNUM A 100 mono block power amps of 350wpc. I have not used my EAR 529 500wpc power amps yet!.

How are things in Hong Kong?

I lived there from 1961 to 1980. Lived at Happy Valley in late 70's.

When i was 17 i worked on Aleaxandra House when it was being built. My father worked at Kai Tak as an air traffic control officer.

Used to frequent The Radio People Ltd, Elephant Radio Co, Moutries, Jolly Sound Co, Excel HiFi etc etc.

I still have a pair of KEF Chorales and a pair of GeGo Orthophase speakers both made by the Radio People Ltd in the 60's.

Albert Chan was a very good friend to me and lead me on my merry path to HiFi Nirvana.
