I have friends who have built the LAB 12, and while a little more complicated than just a scoop (it is a bass horn with driver covers), I think you have to go into much more exotic boxes to meet or exceed the output. The LAB 12 was designed for pro sound use(named after and a project for the "Live Audio Board"), preferably in multiples or stacks to couple the outputs. But, I have heard these several times in different settings, and with just one unit corner loaded the building couldn't handle the output without everything in it dancing. Massive bass. What a blast! Takes two drivers, though, per horn. The box is large. I liked it so well that I built a bass horn too, and although I didn't use the LAB 12 woofers, I wished I had. Lower distortion, bullet proof construction. Just home audio - really overkill - but excess is good now and then. Tim Moorman |
