does anyone have experience or listened or built the Discovery 4 from Troels' site?

Jogas, i am looking at this project also.
Having build more troels designs i think you can not go wrong.

I think that this model is problematic. The difference of mid and tweeter size and separation, with LR2 slope is the reason. And SS 18W is not a midrange really.

Illuminator 5 is a bit more balanced, but uber expensive and difficult to construct.

This will suit you just fine if you prefer extra elevated bass frequencies and you get speakers that resemble expensive commercial products just in case you'd like to impress someone.

Personally, I'd rather have a small mid dome instead, and then one smaller and one larger woofer to cover the 20Hz-20 Khz range.
Probably a 200 lit box.

We can always do better. And yes a smaller midrange driver does better. Illuminator is way overpriced indeed. Imo you are doing very well with the disc 4 for the price paid.
