is jbl2226h suitable for onken enclosure?
the calculator that i used says not so, but i dont want to resort to the usual bass reflex approach.

Technically, no, but you will get the 'tone' of one as long as the vent area [Av] is at least the driver's effective piston area [Sd]/2 or 440 cm^2 in this case. The vents can be a bit longer too as proven by the very popular Onken 360 with its 40 cm long vents, so I recommend using this as a guide to find the largest practical [Av]. http://i58.tinypic.com/t8kydh.jpg
Also, since its compliance [Vas] is a bit low for an Onken, I recommend making the cab's net volume [Vb] at least = [Vas] and either use some form of EQ or damp the vents to 'taste' if the cab sounds under-damped, so adjust the added series resistance [Rg] to get the cab up to this size for it to calculate the vents.
